On December 9, 2008 the Regional Council adopted the Community Engagement Strategy which sets a new framework for improving and coordinating community engagement across HRM. |

~ Adopting a new Community Engagement model for HRM |
| ~ Improving the way HRM engages the public for projects & meetings |

| ~ Invest in public education, outreach and capacity building |

~ Increasing the training & support for HRM staff to be better able to lead engagement processes |

| ~ Ensure accountability and promote excellence in Community Engagement |
