Community Engagement - Community Gardens!

OPPORTUNITY SITES

Opportunity sites are areas of HRM Owned Public Property that we believe would be a suitable location for a Community Garden. If you live in one of those areas and are interested, please note this in the Community Garden Application.

Opportunity sites have been selected because they are located in an area that meets the following criteria:
- high visibility (safety),
- an accessible site,
- potential for water access (this is very limited),
- at least 6 hours of direct sunlight,
- close to apartment buildings (no yard for a garden!)
- and close to potential volunteers.

Preference will be given to groups / citizens who live in the surrounding area.

For more information on these Opportunity Sites, please contact your local Recreation Area Coordinator (Page 5 of the application booklet)
