"AIRPLANE"

"Airplane," and Saunders park where it stands, commemorate the work of wing commander Donald Saunders, a pioneer in Canadian Aviation who was associated with the development of aviation in the Halifax area for many years and who served as manager of the Halifax Municipal Airport from 1931-1937. The sculpture is located on a portion of the old airport property near the original entrance, and is an abstract aluminum tail of an airplace set on a concrete base.
