PUBLIC ART:
A GUIDE TO FREE-STANDING SCULPTURE

 
"CERES," "FLORA," "DIANA"
The three statues, "Ceres," Roman Goddess of Agriculture (holding grapes); "Flora," Roman Goddess of Flowers (holding a wreath); and "Diana," Roman Goddess of the Woods, the Hunt and the moon (holding a piece of cloth with a portion of a tree behind her), stand in close proximity to one another near the Band Stand in the Halifax Public Gardens. They were bequeathed in May of 1887 by Chief Justice Sir William Young.
