"Dog" came from a property owned by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Saint John, New Brunswick. When the property was sold, the dog, one of a collection of several animal sculptures, was sent to the Convent in Halifax , probably in the late 1860's. The sculpture in the Victorian tradition is constructed of cast iron, set on a low pedestal concrete base and painted black. The long-haired dog is lying down on its hauncheswith front paws outstretched.
