The Halifax Explosion Memorial is symbolic of the Halifax Explosion (6 December 1917) and the subsequent re-birth of the City of Halifax. The sculpture, is a combination of bronze, wood, brass and iron. There are four elements on a metal base set on a concrete pedestal. Elements of the sculpture symbolize the explosion, the human aspect of the tragedy, the industry, and the re-birth of the city.
