"Man on a Pillar" represents development and man's alienation from his environment. The man is unable to get down from the pillar without hurting himself, but if he remains where he is, he will have removed himself from his natural environment. The sculpture consists of a small red concrete figure of a naked human sitting, legs dangling, on top of a 15 foot white pillar.
