The Merchant Navy Memorial honours the memory of those who served in the Merchant Marine during both World Wars and the Korean Conflict. The monument, constructed of black marble, is approximately 5 feet long, 4 feet high, and 16 inches thick. The text, inscribed on both sides, is surrounded by "rope" with a figure at each corner. The inscription on the reverse side lists the estimated 75 merchant marine ships lost in enemy battle.
