"SOLDIER"

    "Soldier" honours those who served and those who fell in the South African Campaign (1899- 1902). The bronze soldier stands amid rocks on a stylized pedestal with one arm uplifted and holding a rifle. At the bottom and sides of the pedestal are plaques depicting soldiers aboard ship and others on land; battle scenes, and names inscribed on scrolls.

Sculptor: Hamilton Maccarthy, RCA
Unveiled: October 19, 1901 by the Duke of Cornwall and York
