"Soldier" honours those who served and those who fell in the South African Campaign (1899- 1902). The bronze soldier stands amid rocks on a stylized pedestal with
one arm uplifted and holding a rifle. At the bottom and sides of the pedestal are plaques depicting soldiers aboard ship and others on land; battle scenes, and names inscribed on scrolls.
