PUBLIC ART:
A GUIDE TO FREE-STANDING SCULPTURE

"VYTAIEMO"
"Vytaiemo" was donated by the Ukrainian Association of Canada to the Halifax-dartmouth Ukrainian Association to commemorate the centennial celebrations of Ukrainian Settlement in Canada. The sculpture represents a traditional Ukrainian welcome of bread and salt. A richly embellished towel ("rushynx") sits on top of a projection in front of a figure-like form draped in flags. A braided "welcome" bread, topped by a cellar of salt, sits on the rushynx.
