"Our strength lies in the local knowledge of our communities, combined with training to plan and respond during times of emergency. By pooling and coordinating resources that already exist in our area, we can more effectively support our communities during emergencies."
MEETINGS
Meetings are held 7 PM on the last Monday of each month upstairs in the Middle Musquodoboit Fire Station.
COMMUNITY STATUS REPORTERS
We have many communities located in the Middle Musquodoboit Valley area and CSRs during a community-wide emergency or crisis, that can advise the MV-JEM team of the status in their area (road conditions, power outages, flooding, etc) and of any needs or particular concerns within their home community. These people are residents of the Musquodoboit Valley area who are volunteering their time and information to help communicate needs in times of crisis.
WHAT CAN MV JEM DO FOR YOU
- Assist with your own preparedness planning
- Connect to resources outside your community
- Facilitate faster and better emergency response
- Provide access to additional resources in an emergency
- Coordinated response with agencies and other communities
MV JEM NEEDS:
- Community group representative to attend meetings
- Community representatives to act as Community Status Reporters
- Knowledge of and help from community resources such as clubs, associations, churches, recreation centers, schools, etc.
If you would like to come to a MV JEM meeting or send a representative from your community group we would be glad to see you.
If your organization would like to have an MV JEM representative speak to your group we would be pleased to come and meet with you. Please contact us at 490-5400.
