On November 22, 2004 HRM announced the creation of a self-directed division called the Sustainable Environment Management Office (SEMO) to realign and consolidate HRM’s corporate strategy and policy to achieve a clean, healthy, sustainable environment, in support of the Healthy, Sustainable, Vibrant Community HRM Scorecard theme. This created an opportunity to more closely align with other Environmental offices at various government departments.
