Recreational boaters looking to dispose of small quantities of flares should contact the RCMP or the manufacturer.

Some commercial marine suppliers may accept expired flares for a fee.

Recreational boaters may also call the RCMP general information line at (902) 244-7208.  They will in turn be transferred to the appropriate station to make arrangements for drop off.

When they arrive at the station, they are asked to leave the flares in their vehicle and not take them into the office.  An officer will go to the vehicle for the flares.
