Carbon Monoxide Alarm Smoke Alarm
We recommend that all smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms are tested before the heating season.
If your alarm is battery operated and the battery hasn’t been replaced in the last 6 months, now is the time to do so.
Check manufacturer's instructions for the life expectancy of your alarm; it is usually 5-10 years. If your alarm is around this age, we recommend you replace the alarm.
If your alarm is "wired in" (household current), we strongly recommend you replace the alarm with one that is "wired in" plus battery back up unit. These are contained all in one unit. In case of power outages, you have smoke detection even when there is no household power.
