Fire Prevention Week Contest
Rules & Regulations
|
- Eligibility:
- Contestants must be currently enrolled in Grades 7 through 12 in the 2009/10 year at a school located within HRM.
- Immediate family members (son or daughter, brother or sister) or persons living under the same roof as an employee of HRFE are not eligible to enter this contest.
- Only one entry per student.
- Information Required:
- All entries must contain the following contact information:
- Your full name
- Phone number(s) where you can be contacted
- Name and address of the School at which you are currently enrolled
- Entrants' information is collected for contest purposes only.
- Artwork Requirements:
- Posters must be created by the student. All artwork must be the original work of the student.
- Posters must reflect a fire safety message directed at educating adults and teens who use matches and lighters to take responsibility for them and use them safely; or, directed at educating young children that matches and lighters are dangerous tools and should only be used by responsible grown-ups.

- Posters can be designed using paint, markers, photographs, etc., or a computer graphics program.
- Poster size must be 8 1/2" x 11".
- All artwork and posters submitted become the property of HRM. HRFE will be free to use any or all such entries in any form without compensation or remuneration. Entries will not be returned to participants.
- HRFE reserves the right to make a prize substitution of equivalent value in the event of unavailability of the prize or any aspect thereof for reasons beyond the control of HRFE.

Contest Details:
- All posters must be submitted by one of the following methods:
- If submitting electronically, please submit in pdf format if possible

- Judging will be by Staff of the Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Service Fire Prevention Division. All decisions are final.
- All poster entries must be received by HRFE no later than Monday, October 19th, 2009 at 1600 hrs.
- Winners will be notified by phone no later than October 31, 2009. Only those receiving a prize will be contacted.
- Winners must accept their prizes as offered. No substitution, transfer or exchange will be permitted.
- Winners' parents/legal guardian will be required to sign a consent and release statement to permit HRFE to use and publish by any means their child's name, voice, photograph, testimonial, image or appearance in a video, as the case may be, for promotional activities related to the contest.
- HRFE and HRM bear no responsibility or liability arising out of, pursuant to, or as a result of entry in this contest and/or use of the prizes.
