Maintenance Planning and Works Control

Municipal Operations functions within a coordinated maintenance planning and works control system.

Maintenance Planning

 Maintenance Planning Supervisors (MPS) perform initial assessments of issues identified by residents and perform scheduled inspections of infrastructure. The goal of this group is to identify and assess maintenance items to ensure hazards are addressed as a priority and routine maintenance items are identified for the work planning group.

Works Control

Works Control provides centralized customer service, work planning and administrative support to all departments within Municipal Operations.

Customer Service

• Customer Service Representatives respond to all tier 2 inquiries, process call and service data for supervisors and coordinate call response between various HRM departments and outside agencies.

Work Planning

• The work planning group produces seasonal and activity based work plans, processes all completed work information, and monitors the progression of work in relation to plans and priorities.

Administrative Support

• This group provides general administrative support to all Municipal Operations departments at a variety of locations.

These same services are also provided to a number of other municipal departments which allows for improved work coordination

and reduced costs.
