Each year, Halifax Regional Police (HRP), recognizes those sworn and civilian members and volunteers who have exemplified excellence in service delivery during the past calendar year.

Police Officer of the Year is presented annually to the police officer who, through a single event or the culmination of ongoing effort, best embodies ‘distinguished service’ and consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty in serving the citizens of Halifax Regional Municipality.

Detective Frank Hoskins Memorial Award - Investigator of the Year - is presented annually to a police officer, or officers, who displays excellence in investigation.

Chief’s Meritorious Service Award is awarded to a police officer and/or civilian at the Chief’s discretion who has displayed an on-going dedication to service, continuous professionalism, high integrity and sustained excellence in policing.

Civilian of the Year is presented annually to the civilian(s) who, through a single event or the culmination of ongoing effort, best embodies ‘distinguished service’ and consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty in serving the citizens of Halifax Regional Municipality.

Community Contribution Award may be presented annually to a HRP sworn member, civilian employee, volunteer and/or corporate partner who has made a sustained and outstanding contribution to the community. The person/corporation’s involvement in volunteer activities is such that it has enhanced the program(s) in which they are involved.
