Charge Against Officer Withdrawn

The Criminal Code charge against an officer with Halifax Regional Police has been withdrawn.

On December 9, 2011 Halifax Regional Police issued a media release concerning Constable Ashley Lewis being charged with assault. The charge stemmed from an incident on December 4 that was investigated by RCMP Enfield Detachment. Last month, the charge of assault was withdrawn by the Crown Attorney in Shubenacadie Provincial Court.

Constable Lewis, who had been placed on administrative duties, was returned to active duty once the charge was withdrawn.
