Halifax Regional Police does not have the authority to cancel any Summary Offence Tickets (SOTs).
Effectively April 1, 2011, anyone wishing to cancel a SOT issued for a violation of Section 64 and/or 230(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act may do so by attending the provincial courthouse in the jurisdiction where the SOT was issued.
For Section 64, the accused must present the accused (green) copy of the SOT, and a driver's license that was valid on the date and time of offence and displaying the appropriate class of license for the vehicle being operated when the violation occurred.
For Section 230(1), the accused must present the accused (green) copy of the SOT, and an insurance card and vehicle permit that both apply to the vehicle the accused was operating when the violation occurred.
Call 424-8297 or 1-866-443-6995 (toll-free) or see the reverse side of the SOT for more information.
