Armdale Roundabout

Landscape Project

Background

The Armdale Roundabout Landscape Project is a phased landscape improvement initiative with the first phase, the Armdale Roundabout Tree Planting Plan to be completed and implemented by Fall 2008.

Named after Sir Charles Tupper's family estate in 1916, the community of Armdale is located at a traditional crossroads, overlooking the head of the Northwest Arm.  The growth and evolution of Armdale, Halifax and surrounding communities after WWII led to the establishment of the Armdale Rotary in 1955 to accommodate the increase in traffic to and from the city.

Improvements to the rotary were made in 1967, and the rotary was converted to a roundabout in 2007.  HRM is undertaking the Armdale Roundabout Landscape Project to enhance the functionality, safety, and natural beauty of the area.  To read more about the plan, select the Armdale Roundabout Tree Planting Plan link to the left.
