Past Events
In 2008-09, a Community Liaison Group (CLG) for Penhorn/Woodlawn engaged the local community to draw upon the ideas and experiences of residents and other key stakeholders. The information gathered from the community was used to create a Community Vision.

The CLG released the Draft of the Vision and Action Plan to the public at the Penhorn Sobeys Community Room. Public comments are accepted until Monday June 8, 2009.

The CLG held a clean-up of
the Penhorn Lake shoreline. Sobeys Penhorn, Clean Nova Scotia and HRM Recreation Services provided support for this event. A MOBILE SKATEPARK was planned to be on-site operated by HRM Recreation Staff. Extra skateboards and helmets will be provided.

At the workshops in February and March residents worked with the CLG to take a closer look at the wishes and concerns identified by the community to date and started to develop a vision and an action plan.
The workshops were held at the CLG's meeting space in the Old Moores building at Penhorn Mall

Read the feedback from the "Rekindle Memories and Help Build New Ones" workshops. Many thanks to those who attended to share their views on community assets and their wishes for the future!
The Monday session was held at Grace Baptist Church, 51 Athorpe Drive, Dartmouth (formerly 86 Penhorn Drive) from 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm.
The Saturday session was held at Southdale-North Woodside Elementary School,
36 Hastings Drive, Dartmouth from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm.
Each workshop began with a slide show presentation [PDF, 575KB].
The events were promoted using a variety of methods including a colour postcard delivered to all households and businesses in the local area.
