About the Community Visioning Pilot Project

Duration: September 2006 - September 2007

The Pilot Project was implemented in three of HRM's unique communities - Bedford Waterfront, Fall River and Musquodoboit Harbour.  At its conclusion, the pilot project was evaluated [PDF, 215KB].

The key aspects of the Community Visioning Pilot Project are described in this report [PDF, 1MB] tabled with Regional Council on September 19, 2006.  The report also describes proposed measures of success, length of the pilot project, issues to be addressed, support to other communities, and the link to secondary planning and HRM business operations.

The Community Visioning Process is intended to allow a community to determine its own priorities; priorities which will guide the community into the future.  The visioning process is not a land use planning process, but responds to a broader range of community concerns and opportunities crossing over many of HRM’s areas of program and service. The visioning process therefore fosters more meaningful problem solving and action planning.
