The annual reports for any organization give a valuable summary of the previous year's activities and major developments. Prior to approximately 1960 annual reports are an especially good source of historical evidence and information, as they served as an actual accountablity mechanism. More recently annual reports have become a public relations tool to communicate an organization's major accomplishments; these are still valuable sources, but with less informational value.
