HRM Archives photo CR6-007.1, donated by Elizabeth Publicover
Former City Market and Police Station, ca. 1949
-view from Citadel Hill looking down Duke St.
The Halifax Police Station moved into the Market Building ca. 1953 from its cramped quarters in City Hall.
Photo also shows buildings just down the hill, on the current Scotia Square site, and ferries crossing the harbour.
HRM Archives holds many images from this area prior to urban renewal projects, such as Scotia Square and the construction of the new police headquarters further up Rainnie Drive.
