Archival research is very rewarding but often requires considerable time and patience. Before visiting or contacting the Archives it is good to have a clear idea of your research purpose.
Preliminary investigation of a research topic can save you considerable time. Consult published sources available on-line or in local libraries before coming to the Archives. Local History and Genealogy @ Halifax Public Libraries is an excellent starting point for Halifax regional history.
Search descriptions of our holdings on-line. It may be worthwhile to contact the Archives before a visit, to determine if we have other sources for your research project.
