Arts in HRM

Welcome to the Arts in HRM.

The Arts community and Cultural Industries in HRM includes organizPerforming on Stageations involved in a broad range of activities. Arts activities include: crafts, visual arts, media arts and literary arts; performing arts such as dance, music and theatre.

HRM is also home to a host of arts education organizations and programs designed to meet the needs of recreational, school-aged, pre-professional and professional artists. The wide-ranging arts sector and arts education foundation in the community has led to the development of the equally large and growing cultural industries and design sector.

ThAmbulance Girl Sete cultural industries include animation,

broadcasting, film and video, multimedia, publishing and sound recording. Architecture; fashion, graphic, industrial, interior and landscape design are elements of the design sector. Thousands of HRM residents are employed in arts and culture, and many thousands more participate as volunteers and audience members.

It is of course events and festivals that bring the arts to life. These activities on the streets and waterfronts, or in a local exhibition or performance facilities bring the artists and audiences together. Whether it is an author reading; a film or visual art or craft exhibition; or a dance, mConservatoryusic or theatre performance; each one will educate, engage or entertain the audience and share some part of our community and people.
