General Manager Hired
The Halifax Regional Municipality is pleased to advise that the search for a General Manager for the Canada Games Centre has been successful with the hiring of Gary Furlong.
Gary has over 15 years experience in recreation, sport and facility administration, most recently as the Director of Operations for the Halifax 2011 Canada Games where he was responsible for leading multiple divisions - sport, venues, capital construction, logistics and athletic services. Gary has a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education from Memorial University. He was the Sport Coordinator for the 1999 Canada Winter Games Host Society in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland and Venue Fitout Superintendent for the 1999 Pan American Games Host Society. He was the Director of Recreation for the Town of Labrador City, later moving across Canada to the City of Vernon, British Columbia as the Manager for Recreation Services.
Gary will be responsible for managing the overall operation of the new Canada Games Centre including strategic development, financial accountability, and resource allocation for the execution of the Centre’s vision, mission, mandate and strategic plan.
