District 9 Capital Budget Projects
In January 2011, the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) approved advanced funding of the proposed 2011/12 Capital Budget for a number of projects. The following projects have been approved in District 9:
- Paving renewal of Slayer Street from Woodland Avenue to School Street, with some curb and gutter, and sidewalk replacement. If you have any questions concerning this project please contact John Fawcett at 490-6824.
- Installation of new sidewalk on the North West side of Highfield Park Drive from Joseph Young Street to True North Crescent. If you have any questions concerning this project please contact Peter Lynds at 490-6898.
- Installation of new sidewalk on the south side of Akerley Boulevard from Isnor Drive to Joseph Zatzman Drive. If you have any questions concerning this project please contact Dylan Hayne at 490-1457.
The proposed work on these projects will result in adjustments to driveways and some lawn slopes, but it is anticipated that the majority of work will be limited to HRM’s right-of-way. Any fences, hedges, shrubs and/or gardens that are currently located within the street right-of-way may have to be removed and relocated to within the private property boundaries by the property owner prior to construction. If not relocated prior to construction, HRM will remove and dispose of any features which are in conflict with the proposed work. Trees within the street right-of-way will be addressed by the Municipality, and must not be removed by the property owner.
