District and Capital Funds

Expenditure Summary - Fiscal Year 2009/10

At the beginning of each fiscal year, members of Council are allocated $3,000 District Fund and $65,000.00 Capital Fund.

The District Fund is for use in the District and is dispersed at the Councillor’s discretion in accordance with Council Procedure. This fund is for supporting local recreational and educational activities. Donations are made to not for profit groups, not individuals.

The Capital Fund is a centralized program that provides partial or full funding to HRM capital projects or community non-profit groups at the discretion of the district councillor and in accordance with Council Policy. This fund is for physical amenities including but not limited to playgrounds, parks and community beautification.

The projects and amounts to date for fiscal year April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011 are as follows:

J. L. Ilsley High School Girls Softball Team - $100.00
Nova Scotia Select Provincial Hockey Team - 4100.00
McIntosh Run Watershed Association - $50.00
Rockingstone Heights School - $100.00
Mainland South Heritage Society - $1,200.00
Lacrosse Nova Scotia Junior Schooners - $100.00
Spryfield Lions Club - $89.16
Nova Scotia Mosquito “AAA” - $100.00
Bubba Ray Gulls - $100.00


Capital Fund

Halifax Horseshoe Club - upgrades to horseshoe courts at Graves Oakley/Leiblin Park - $14,748.00
Mainland South Heritage Society - purchase of ball equipment for Sambro Ball Field - $1,500.00
Williamswood/Harrietsfield Community Centre - donation for purchase of equipment - $2,000.00
Spryfield and District Business Commission - purchase and installation of plants and shrubs and purchase and installation of 20 street banners along Herring Cove Road - $2,150.00


I have made the following commitments from my Capital fund:
