Citizen’s Committee - Herring Cove

On Wednesday, January 18 Western Region Community Council approved a motion to form a Citizen’s Committee in the community of Herring Cove. The Committee will work to help provide direction on some significant projects in the community. For example, the new fire hall has generated a sense of renewal for the recreation centre and enhancements for Latter’s Lake. As well, the final phase for sewer and water services need to be addressed along with the breakwater. Finally, some issues have arisen with the Herring Cove Service and Settlement Strategy that need to be addressed. This committee, which will be comprised of seven (7) community members, will, in essence, work to address community issues; except those related to the integration of the Sewage Treatment Plant. If you are interested in serving, please contact me for an application. A notice will also be published in the newspaper.  This type of committee is a first for HRM and I am excited about its potential.
