Robert P. (Bob) Harvey was a Councillor with the Halifax County Municipality beginning in 1989 and he was elected to Halifax Regional Council in 1996. He served as Deputy Mayor in 2001-2002. Councillor Harvey grew up in Halifax and has been a resident of Sackville since 1970. Educated at Dalhousie University, he retired in 1997 after a thirty-year career in teaching. He is active in a number of community organizations including the Sackville Heritage Society, the Fultz Corner Restoration Society, the Charitable Irish Society and the Royal Nova Scotia Historical Society.
During his time on Council he has chaired the Sackville Community Council and its successor, the North West Community Council, as well as, the Halifax Regional Library Board. He was past member and vice chair of the Halifax Regional Police Commission.
Councillor Harvey and his wife Carollyn have three daughters, a son, five grandsons and five granddaughters.
