From March 2 – April 20, 2015, the Halifax Regional Municipality led a citizen engagement to stimulate discussion and ideas on how to increase voter engagement. Insight gathered will further our efforts to increase voter turnout in the 2016 election and beyond.
Through a survey on the municipality’s engagement portal, Shape Your City, citizens had the opportunity to share their thoughts on engaging new and youth voters, accessibility, ways to cast your ballot and roles of participants in the electoral process.
Many also shared their ideas at interactive sessions on municipal voting, hosted by the municipality at the Halifax Central Library on April 11.
Thank you to all who participated in the event or online.
