What Grants Does HRM Civic Events Offer to Groups?
|
HRM supports events that build community, foster good community relations, develop local economy and tourism industry, and enrich the quality of life of all residents and visitors.
Preference will be given to events which:
• are free to the public.
• are run by non-profit organizations.
• have a broad appeal.
There are three funding programs for which you can apply:
| Festival and Events Grant Program |
Annual funding programming geared to community non-profit organizations for events including festivals and celebrations, such as community festivals or summertime BBQs.
Fundraising events, conferences, sporting events, private events, and political events or organizations’ events receiving funding from other HRM sources do not qualify for a grant.

| Summer Festivals Grant Program |
Annually funding to community events geographically located within the former Halifax County Municipal boundaries for events including festivals and celebrations.

| Marketing Levy Special Events Reserve |
Funding that focuses on supporting national or international culture, sport and heritage events that do not occur annually and are free or low cost to the public.
Fundraising events, conferences, private events, and political events or organizations’ events receiving funding from other HRM sources do not qualify for a grant. The Marketing Special Events Reserve will only fund for-profit events if they are large scale and located on the Halifax Common.

Annually occurring large scale events within HRM holding a large impact on the tourism, culture, sport and/or heritage of the area, such as the Royal Nova Scotia Tattoo, the International Buskers Festival and the International Air Show. To receive Hallmark status an event must be brought forth by a member of Council or the Special Events Advisory Committee (SEAC).
