Facility Development - Making Great things Happen

Potential Community Enhancement of New Eastern Passage High School Project

Eastern Passage Community Consultation

HRM values the comments and feedback that is received from community members.  The Community and Recreation Services department is the business unit in HRM that oversees Regional Recreation and Culture, Community Recreation Services, and many other quality of life services.  Strategic planning for community facilities guides the way for staff to ensure that the mandates determined by Regional Council are met or exceeded for our citizens.

The Community Facility Master Plan (CFMP) was approved in 2008.  The CFMP is the strategic plan that recommends that, when possible and appropriate, review of opportunities associated with potential partnership projects for construction of community facilities, takes place.  The construction of a new school in your community is such an opportunity, and potential partnership aspects are now being evaluated.  Community consultation is an important step in determining community needs and is an important aspect of the analysis related to planning for existing and future recreation facilities.

A key aspect of this review process is to find out what citizens feel is currently missing, or unable to happen in your community at this time, and if a potential expansion of the new Eastern Passage High School, would help to provide a better level of service for you or your family.

Citizen’s feedback will be used to inform and develop recommendations to Halifax Regional Council about future recreation programs and services requirements in your community.  Please take the time to fill out the survey below.  This survey will be available online for the month of October to ensure that there is every opportunity for people to participate.  In addition, staff will be organizing public sessions to talk with you directly on this topic.  You can also contact us by phone or email at 490-5713 or CFMP[at]halifax.ca.
