The Combat Challenge Team - 2009

The 2009 Combat Challenge Teams are preparing to defend their titles in September this year at the Nationals in Gaspe Bay, Quebec. Team members are finally out of the gym and have been practicing on the training tower since the first of May.

For the most part it is anticipated that the team rosters will remain the same. However, there is a big void to fill on one of the men's teams. Adam "Ace" MacNeil will not be competing in the 2009 season. Ace has decided to take the year off to spend more time with his family.

The competition to fill Adam's vacant spot resulted in a good turn out from members. A total of fifteen (15) members attended a recent training session to compare their times on the course. These times will be compiled and a decision will be made in the near future on a replacement for Ace.

The women's team has had a number of members out to try their hand on the course for the first time and we hope to have a strong team of five (5) members for the 2009 season.

The team from Station 16 (Eastern Passage) is looking forward to another strong season and a team from Station 45 (Fall River) is also hoping to attend the regional event.

The 2009 Fire Fit schedule is not very conducive to any of the Maritime teams. The teams will be competing at the Regional event in Stephenville, NFLD, in July. This is the only event taking place in Atlantic Canada. There was an event planned for Worcester, Mass, in May which was cancelled. In preparation for the Nationals and the Worlds there is an event in Haverhill, USA, planned for August which the teams hope to attend.

Team members are working hard both in the gym and on the course with expectations of bringing home a number of National Championships in 2009.
