Located next to Station #3 on West Street, the Logistics Division is staffed with a team of highly motivated and dedicated personnel. What they do on a daily basis directly impacts on the safety, reliability and performance of all the Divisions of HRFES. The team consists of a Divisional Chief of Logistics, an Equipment & Inventory Technician, a Breathing Air Technician, a Building and Grounds Technician, an Administrative Assistant, two Stores people and the occasional firefighter on modified duties.
Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinating testing, maintenance and repair of all equipment on the apparatus, including ladders, pumps, generators, hose, nozzles and appliances.
- Maintain equipment inventory lists.
- Research, writing specs and purchasing of new equipment.
- Issuing uniforms and equipment to personnel.
- Repair and maintenance of facilities.
- Coordinating repair, maintenance and testing of firefighter's protective clothing.
- Coordinating delivery of janitorial supplies, office supplies, kitchen supplies, station furnishings.
- Personal protective equipment.
- Apparatus transfers from station to station.
- Management of our breathing air systems, repair, testing and inventories.
- Coordinate and conduct face fit testing.
- Provision of logistical support to emergency scenes.
- Coordination of the fleet purchase program.
- Coordination of snow and ice removal for HRFES locations.
- Any other special projects assigned to this division.
The Logistics Division's goal is to supply the needs (equipment, supplies, services) required by this Fire Service and the Municipality in a timely and cost effective manner.
