The Labour Relations Services team provides value added leadership and advice to assist HRM business units in all aspects of labour relations. The division is decentralized with Labour Relations Consultants integrated within the business units for which they provide service. The Labour Relations Consultants are the first point of contact when labour relations issues arise. The team is responsible for building and maintaining collaborative relationships and partnerships when delivering labour relations advice and services. A proactive approach is taken to anticipate emergent issues and to provide appropriate solutions.

The division is responsible for the development and implementation of labour relations strategies and key activities to manage labour relations issues. All aspects of labour relations assistance including:

  • Collective Agreement Negotiation and Administration
  • Progressive Discipline and Termination of Employment
  • Non-Culpable Terminations
  • Employee Drug and Alcohol Abuse Management
  • Labour Relations Advice re: Attendance Management
  • Grievances and Arbitration
  • Compliance with Collective Agreement’s and Applicable Employment Legislation
  • General Labour Relations
  • Labour Relations Implications on Purchase and Sale or Restructuring of a Business
  • Union Organizing and Applications for Certification
