The division is responsible for the development and implementation of labour relations strategies and key activities to manage labour issues.

Responsibilities include:

• Collective Bargaining

• Provision of advice relating to collective administration

• Advice relating to managing in a unionized environment

• Progressive discipline / termination advice

• Grievance and arbitration support

• Compliance direction regarding collective agreements and applicable legislation

• Labour Relations advice regarding reorganization and reconstructing

The Labour Relations Services team provides value added leadership and advise to assist Halifax Regional Municipality’s business units in all aspects of labour relations.  The Labour Relation team is centrally located on 3rd Floor Duke Tower and is the first point of contact for advice regarding labour relations issues.  The Labour Relation Services provides advice and solutions to assist business units achieve service and business objectives.
