Through
its Organizational Development, Health, Safety and Wellness section,
Human Resources provides a variety of self-directed career development
learning resources which are available through our corporate library.
The
books, videos, and computer based training tools are designed, not
to replace the hands-on experiential learning that is provided within
skills training/education or legislation programs, but to enable
HRM employees to access additional support that can assist them
in their career and personal development. HR also provides
one-on-one career counselling, either through their HR Consultant
or with the HR Training and Development Consultant.
We
encourage all of our employees to make the most of their career
development goals. We provide a forum whereby employees and supervisors
can discuss career pathing opportunities and individual career goals.
HRM also provides funding support for university or college programs
that are either directly related to the employee's work or to the
employee's prospects for promotion or career development.
We
believe that the most effective career development strategies are
those that emphasize an individualized, self-managed approach. Our
team is here to help employees identify opportunities and resources
available to assist employees in their approach to continuous learning.
