The weather is very different during the winter, spring, summer and fall. HRM has warmer winters than the rest of Canada because we are so close to the ocean. The typical rule about the weather in HRM is “wait 5 minutes and the weather will change!” • Winter weather in HRM can have strong winds, heavy snowfall, freezing rain, and very cold temperatures. • Be ready for all kinds of winter weather. • Make sure your jackets have hoods and can keep the water out. • Wear many layers of clothes to keep your body heat in. • You will also need to wear a hat to keep warm. • If it is very cold, cover your mouth with a scarf to protect your lungs. • Check the weather forecast every morning so you can choose the best clothes to wear • For information on weather call Environment Canada at 426-9090 or 1-800-668-6767 or visit www.weatheroffice.gc.ca |
