A brief intro to Halifax Regional Municipality Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) consists of the former cities of Halifax and Dartmouth, the town of Bedford and the Counties of Halifax. It is the largest community in Atlantic Canada, From 1928 until 1971, over a million immigrants arrived in Canada through Pier 21 in the Port of Halifax. Many settled in the area, enriching our social and cultural environment.

The area code 902 must be dialed for long distance calls into Halifax or when making long distance calls from Halifax to other parts of Nova Scotia.
