Bennery Lake is the water supply for the Halifax Stanfield International Airport and Aerotech Business Park.
The Bennery Lake watershed is located north of the Bedford Basin, surrounded by the community of Grand Lake, Highway 102, and the Aerotech Business Park.
The Bennery Lake Watershed Protected Water Area is approximately 660 hectares in size, and is protected under provincial designation and regulations.
Land ownership of the watershed consists of approximately 10% Halifax Water lands, 30% Crown lands and 60% privately owned properties. The entire Bennery Lake shoreline is owned by either Halifax Water or the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources.

Bennery Lake Watershed Management Committee
The Bennery Lake Watershed Management Committee meets on a regular basis to provide support and feedback to Halifax Water on watershed matters such as:
- Local issues of concern
- Enhancement of regulations & guidelines
- Watershed security
- Local development
- Public communication
- Best Management Practices
