MODELLING ENGINEER

Halifax Water is inviting applicants for one (1) Modelling Engineer. The Modelling Engineer is a key team member in the management of the water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure of Halifax Water. The successful incumbent will provide strategic leadership in development, maintenance, and ongoing improvement/enhancement of Halifax Water’s modeling tools, practices, and decision making frameworks in addition to assisting with infrastructure prioritization that protects public health and the environment.
The Modelling Engineer, reporting to the Manager, Asset Management, will be tasked with providing modeling support across the organization. The Modelling Engineer will assist with modelling to support analysis and decision making for long-term master planning, capital, compliance and operational planning prioritization, development scenarios, and Halifax Water’s emerging wet weather management program. As well, this position will provide engineering support for the implementation of the asset management program and roadmap.
This position requires a post secondary degree in Water Resources, Civil or Municipal Engineering with a Professional Engineer designation. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible and related experience (including direct supervisory experience) with an emphasis on hydraulic/hydrologic modelling, comprehensive master planning, and asset management experience is being sought. Candidates with water and wastewater utility experience are preferred. The successful incumbent must be eligible for membership with Professional Engineers Nova Scotia and also have a valid driver’s license.
