The Chain Lakes Watershed is located west of Northwest Arm Drive in Halifax, and serves as the emergency back-up water supply for the regions served by Pockwock Lake.
This watershed is approximately 217 hectares in size. Over 95% of the watershed is owned and managed jointly by Halifax Water and the Crown.

Lake Lamont Watershed

The Lake Lamont and Topsail watershed is part of the former water supply for the Dartmouth area. It now serves as the emergency back-up water supply for the regions served by Lake Major.
The watershed encompasses around 368 hectares, and is located in the heart of Dartmouth, north of Highway 7. Over 90% of the watershed land area is owned and managed by Halifax water.

The Chain Lakes and Lake Lamont Watersheds are not designated, but protected by the Halifax Regional Water Commission Act and Halifax Regional Municipality Legislation and Bylaws.
