Halifax Water Organizational Chart 
The organizational chart shows structure to the senior and middle management level of Halifax Water. These are the key staff that should be contacted for inquiries. Senior staff will be responsible to direct staff and allocate resources to follow up on inquiries.
Internally, the structure is designed with Water Services and Wastewater Services as the lead operational departments with Engineering & Information Services, Environmental Services, Finance and Customer Service, and Human Resources supporting the two operational leads. Collectively, our mission is “To provide world class services for our customers and our environment”.
Water Services is responsible for the supply, treatment and delivery of water to the customer from the “source to the tap”. This includes the areas of source water protection, water quality management and treatment operations, the water supply plants, distribution operations. This group is also responsible for corporate technical services.
Wastewater and Stormwater Services, from the drains back to the environment, is responsible for the operation of wastewater/stormwater collection systems, the operation of wastewater treatment plants and combined sewer overflows (CSOs),and the operation of the biosolids processing facility at Aerotech. This group is also responsible for corporate fleet services and building requirements.
Engineering & Information Services is generally responsible for the provision of engineering and technical services in support of the planning, design, construction, and record information for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. This group also provides technical services related to the provision of computer network, hardware, and software for the majority of core business applications with Halifax Water.
Environmental Services is generally responsible for compliance reporting, regulatory affairs, environmental assessments and studies and pollution prevention, as related to the water and wastewater/stormwater utility.
Finance and Customer Service is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting of Halifax Water for both internal and external customers as well as customer billing and collection, customer call centre, meter reading and meter maintenance.
Human Resources responsibilities include employment equity, recruitment and retention. HR is also responsible for coordination of corporate training, labour relations and administration of the collective agreements, grievance procedures and employee assistance programs, the administration of the compensation systems, payroll, and benefits administration.
The organizational structure of Halifax Water has been designed to deliver our core services as efficiently as possible, and optimize integration across the utility. As the first regulated water, wastewater and stormwater utility in Canada, we are pleased to offer our services for the betterment of HRM residents and the environment.
