History of Our Bottled Water Program:

In May 2004, Halifax Water embarked on a public awareness campaign to help HRM residents better understand their drinking water choices and the benefits of our tap water.  Water produced by Halifax Water was bottled and distributed to HRM residents, free of charge, for special events held in HRM.    The bottled version of our water, H2O!, received a very positive response from the public, and was offered during the months of May through September, until our supply was depleted.  

Why has the program been discontinued?

2008 was our last year for promoting bottled tap water produced by Halifax Water.  We have met our goal to increase awareness about the fine qualities of tap water, but are concerned about the impacts of plastic bottles on the environment.

Recognizing our own mission of stewardship, and to be eco-friendly to the environment, the bottled water program has now been discontinued.  This endeavour will help keep plastic (bottles) out of the municipal waste stream and reduce our carbon footprint by reducing bottle production.

What can you do?

• Use a non-plastic water bottle and fill up at home.
• Remember, you can always enjoy the refreshing quality of H2O! directly from your tap!
