BE IT RESOLVED that the following be and the same is hereby adopted and
enacted as a By-law of Halifax County Municipality when and if the same has
received the approval of the Minister of Municipal Affairs, and that the Municipal
Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to forward the same to the Minister and
request his approval hereof.

BY-LAW NO. 55
A BY-LAW RESPECTING LAKESIDE/TIMBERLEA BEECHVILLE SEWER TAXES
1. This By-Law shall be known as and may be cited as the
"Lakeside/Timberlea/Beechville Sewer Taxes By-Law".
2. In this By-Law unless the context otherwise indicates:
(a) "combined sewer service" means the service that includes both
sanitary sewer and either a storm sewer or a storm drain vested in or under
the control of the Municipality;
(b) "sanitary sewer" means a sewer receiving and carrying water born
wastes from residences, business buildings, institutions and industrial
establishments, and to which storm, surface or ground wastes are not
intentionally admitted;
(c) "sewer" means a pipe or conduit for carrying sewage, storm water or
surface runoff or sewage and storm water and surface runoff, and includes
all sewer drains, storm sewers or storm drains and combines sewer services
of every description vested in or under the control of the Municipality.
3. The special tax levied under the provisions of subsection (1) of Section 46A
of Chapter 87 of the Acts of Nova Scotia, 1962, as amended by Section 4 of
Chapter 111 of the acts of 1973, is hereby fixed and determined to be
Twenty Dollars ($20.00) for each lineal foot of real property on the street
in which the combined sewer service is built or has been built in the
Lakeside-Timberlea-Beechville area of District 2 of Halifax County
Municipality.
.4. The Special tax levied under the provisions of subsection (1) of Section
47A of said Chapter 87 amended by Section 7 of Chapter 111 of the Acts of
1973, is hereby fixed and determined to be Twenty Dollars ($20.00) for
each lineal foot of real property fronting on the street in which the
combined sewer service is built or has been built in the Lakeside-
Timberlea-Beechville area of District 2 of Halifax County Municipality.
THIS IS TO CERTIFY that the By-Law of which
the foregoing is a true copy was duly passed at a
duly called meeting of the Municipal Council of
Halifax County Municipality duly held on the 6th
day of December, A.D. 1983.
GIVEN under the hand of the Municipal Clerk and
under the corporate seal of the said Municipality
