Final 2001 HRM Property Tax Bills Being Mailed Out

(Friday, August 10/2001)-- Beginning today and continuing early next week, property owners in the Halifax Regional Municipality will be receiving their 2001 Final Tax Bills. Due date for payment is Friday, September 28, 2001.

Approximately 90,000 tax bills will be mailed directly to customers, while 48,000 will be sent directly to mortgage companies for payment.

HRM Financial Services has implemented major improvements in its tax bill delivery system recently, enabling it to deliver tax billing files electronically to 33 mortgage or financial institutions. Only nine companies could be accommodated in this format in the last tax billing period.

This method enables HRM to keep mailing costs down, while at the same time eliminating the transfer of large amounts of paper.
