(Wednesday, September 12, 2001)--
Due to emergency efforts underway
at many major centres across the
country to assist passengers
travelling on U.S. flights diverted to
Canada, Mayor Peter Kelly
announced today the Conference of
Big Cities Mayors scheduled for
Halifax later this week has been
cancelled.
Mayor Kelly said the Federation of
Canadian Municipalities endorsed
the decision and the conference has
been re-scheduled for October 26-28
at Halifax City Hall. It was originally
scheduled to begin this Friday and
conclude on Sunday.

discussed at the weekend conference
were:

Establishment of Research Network and Strategic Alliances
Trade Policy and Municipal Government.
