News Release Mayor Kelly Challenges Mayor Morgan
(Wednesday, April 3/2002)-- In support of the Halifax Mooseheads hockey team, Mayor Peter Kelly issued a " Winner's
Challenge" challenge to Mayor John Morgan of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
If Cape Breton Screaming Eagles defeat the Halifax Mooseheads in the upcoming Quebec Major Junior Hockey semi-final
play-offs, Mayor Kelly will wear a Screaming Eagles hockey jersey during a HRM Council meeting and the Cape Breton
Regional Municipality flag will fly over Grand Parade for one week.
However, if the Mooseheads defeat the Cape Breton team, the Mooseheads and HRM will reign supreme in the Cape
Breton Regional Municipality.
"I think Mayor Morgan would look very smart in a Mooseheads jersey. And I am sure that both he and members of Cape
Breton Regional Municipality will be very pleased to see the HRM flag flying in front of their City Hall, " the Mayor said.
Mayor Kelly urged the residents of HRM to pledge their full support to the Mooseheads in their upcoming series. The
Mooseheads will play the Screaming Eagles the best four out of seven games, beginning this Friday in Halifax.
