HRM Distributes Regional Planning Workbook
(Wednesday, July 17/2002)-- The Halifax Regional Municipality is distributing information workbooks throughout the
municipality, seeking input from the public regarding future growth of HRM.
The municipality has embarked on a public consultation program, as part of the process to develop and implement a 25-year development plan entitled Healthy Growth for HRM. As part of the program, the Regional Planning Project group has
designed a workbook that provides an opportunity for area residents to give their insight into the type of community they
would like to see develop in the next 25 years.
"This Workbook offers citizens the chance to get involved in the shaping of their community by telling us their aspirations
and expectations for the future," says Anne Muecke, Project Manager, Regional Planning. "We really want to know what
people like about living in their community, what they would change, and what core values our residents want to live by in
HRM."
There are four strategic areas in the new Regional Plan:
- Growth Management
- Integrated Transportation
- Vibrant City and Healthy Communities
- Environmental Asset Management
The workbooks may be obtained at all branches of the Halifax Regional Library Service, HRM Customer Service Centres,
local CAP sites and community/recreation centres. Citizens may also complete the workbook on-line at
www.halifax.ca by clicking on the Regional Planning icon.
